In order to assist you in obtaining safe and satisfactory results when burning and caring for your hand-made or manufactured candles, Heaven Scents suggests
you follow our simple tips for everyday candle safety, use and care.
If you have candles purchased from another source, please follow the use and care instructions for those products which may be provided from that retailer.
- Never leave a burning candle of any kind unattended.
- Keep candles out of the reach of children. Even an unlit candle is a curiosity for a small child which opens the door for any number of potential hazards. A small amount of candle ingested will probably do no harm. However just in case a child should ingest candle material, to be on the safe side rinse the mouth with water, serve water or milk to dilute and contact your physician.
- Glass and ceramic candle containers have the potential to crack if overheated. Never burn longer than four hours and allow complete cooling time between relights.
- Keep lit candles out of drafts. Drafts create large flames, not only shortening the burning time but contributing to the potential for a fire hazard as well.
- Candle wicks should
be trimmed to a 1/4" from wax for longer burning time.
- Burn no longer than four hours at a time. Let the wax solidify before relighting. Not only is this a safety tip, but your candles
will last longer with less soot accumulation.
- Votive candles must be in a container. They are made of a low melt wax. The tighter the fit the longer the candle will burn.
- Candles will fade if left in the light for an extended period of time.
- Never set lit or unlit candles in a window or directly expose to bright outdoor indoor spotlights.
- Removal and re-use of the melted candle tart. Set the dish in your freezer for 20 minutes or so and then slide the candle tart out with your thumbs. Drop the candle tart in a small zip lock bag, seal and write the fragrance on the bag with a marking pen. Clean the dish with warm soapy water, dry completely and you're ready for an all new scent!
- Get Candle Wax out of your carpet! Break off any large pieces before applying any heat. Cut a piece of a *paper* bag larger than the wax spill and place over the area. With an iron on *high* setting, run the iron over the bag with short strokes. As the wax melts into the paper, rotate the bag to continue absorbing the wax. Continue until no more wax melts into the bag.
